Striving for Excellence Quality and Excellence in contracting Since this is the month that NARI honors excellence in contracting [through their CotY award program], I thought it might be a good time to address the topic of quality and excellence  from a broader point of view. When you think of excellence, what comes to mind?  Is it the final product, the service, the components of a project, or is it far more?  If we look for excellence in every aspect of our projects and our businesses we can't help but to create what we would all agree is excellence.  If we strive for a high standard of quality in all areas of our businesses we can't help but to succeed with our clients and engender staff satisfaction.   … Let's look at some of the ways that we already follow this model and other things we can do to further develop excellence.  Some of the simple things we can do might include the simple extras such as a note or phone call before, during or after the project.  Taking the few extra minutes to ensure that the client's home and furniture are protected from damage and thoroughly cleaned makes the difference between a satisfied client and a thrilled client.  Really listening to the clients makes them feel special and in turn they will think you are special, especially if you can add that little touch to a project that says I heard you and I care about you.
