Preparing For Staff
Preparation will lead to successful employees
To make sure that a new employee actually becomes part of the solution instead of just adding to the existing
problem, you've got to make sure that you are prepared for them when they show up for their first day on the
job. On-the-job training is all well and good, but without a good plan, it can turn into just a long series of
trial and error mistakes.
Employees deserve to understand exactly what their job is and what is expected of them. If this is clearly
spelled out, the willing employee will make the effort to produce what is wanted.
Define Your Needs
To effectively prepare for staff it is vital that you know exactly what it is that you want. This may sound
basic, even common sense, but determining your real needs can often mean the difference between your new
employee's success or their failure. Try listing all the things that need to be done. Next review your list to
determine if someone else should do some of these tasks. Is there someone already in your organization who
can take on more (or different) responsibilities? Think outside the box!
